My work explores the emotional weight carried within the female body through portraits constructed entirely with red thread. Each line is sewn as both mark and wound — a record of tension, memory, vulnerability, and endurance. The thread functions like drawing, but also like repair, binding fragmented emotions into form while leaving spaces intentionally exposed.
Red becomes symbolic throughout the work: bloodline, trauma, intimacy, anger, survival, and connection. The layered strands create movement and instability, reflecting the complexity of internal psychological landscapes that are often hidden beneath outward appearance.
By using thread instead of paint, I slow the act of portraiture into a repetitive and meditative process. Every stitch becomes an act of confrontation and care. The faces emerge incomplete yet resilient, inviting the viewer to consider what is held together, what is unraveling, and what remains unspoken.
These portraits are not meant to idealize femininity, but to reveal its raw emotional architecture — fragile, powerful, and deeply human.
